I think about valoralo.mx as the evolution of smsparatodos.com
How did I come up with this new idea of valoralo.mx?
It was during some customization work I was doing on another pet project called vidaprimalmexico.com which is a store hosted on Shopify.com and my Wife is the owner and manager. While doing some research I was looking into how a regular integration with Shopify works, and it was the time that I found out about an interesting service called judge.me and I got inspired by that, because here in México, most of the time, owners do not really know or they don’t want to know, about their customer’s experience, and sometimes it is very difficult for them to track whether they visited the physical store or restaurant, or if they order online or by telephone, and something similar happens in the customer side, if you are not satisfied with the quality of the food or the service, you just never come back and neither you recommend that business, and even if you want to share positive or negative feedback it is not easy to do that unless you are really angry and you make a phone call and complain about it, but here in México the culture is not the one that welcomes feedback and gives feedback.
So now you know why I got inspired and decided to start working on this idea.
The main differentiator of this project, is that you can support all the flows that you might have in a restaurant for example and that would be able, to delegate the request of feedback to any employee and it would be as easy as asking for your customer’s mobile number(many times when you order by phone they already ask this information), so after they enter your phone number, you would be receiving an SMS message with a short link to valoralo.mx saying something like:
How was your recent experience in our restaurant, Did you like the food and service?
OR
How was the food in your recent order by phone??
So then the customer might click on a short link and share some comments in a simple text area, with no big forms and surveys, very simple feedback(of course this could grow), sharing feedback such as congratulations, comments, complaints, etc, and this would be customizable on the cadence of the SMS messages and how they might look, and most importantly is that we would be able to offer customizations and offer free plans when you are a small restaurant or business(as far as I did the research nobody in México is following a similar approach to ask for feedback).
Beginning with this idea, was also a way to keep smsparatodos.com alive and make a positive impact on the culture in México and then look for new horizons in Latin America.
Definitely, our culture in México has plenty of room for improvement on how feedback is perceived, I’m a person that loves feedback and I think that we should not fear to conflict because that is a good way you can grow a lot.
